We’ve bred Ruby to a great liver and white stud, “Rex”. Kansas T-Rex, or Rex, works on a hunting preserve and hunts almost daily. He’s got fantastic lines (including Nolan’s Last Bullet and McCandless Titlest Driver).

We have 5 males and 4 females. Henry is the sire. He is registered with both the AKC and the American Field Dog Stud Book. Copper is AKC registered. We’ve registered the litter, so you can register your puppy if you choose.

New owners start choosing their pups around 4/5 weeks old (we base pick of the litter on the order deposits are received). They will be ready for their new homes around May 14. They will be vet checked and up to date on shots/worming.

The pups are doing great. They were wormed this week (every two weeks) and got their nails clipped. We’ve also been checking on teeth and ears when we handle the puppies. We’ve had a lot of visitors, which is great for socializing the puppies. They are all so outgoing.

One of our new owners dropped off some food for us to try and we love it. It’s from Honest Kitchen, is dehydrated, grain-free and made with high quality ingredients. It’s easy to mix. You just add water and wait a few minutes.

The pups love it too. Those bowls are empty in no time.

We’re making loud noises during meal times and none of the pups bat an eye. Even when their not eating, not much seems to phase them… power tools, the shop vac, the radio… they’ve heard it all.

During the afternoons, we usually take play breaks outside. It’s amazing how quickly the pups start exploring. The first day, everyone stayed close by in the grass. Now they’re venturing on to the deck, into the tall grass and trees, climbing on rocks and checking out the gravel. Ruby joined us and the pups kept her on her toes.

They are a rough and tumble bunch.

We’ve had a lot of changes since our last update. The pups have moved into a new pen that has a separate sleeping and potty area. They also have a large play pen attached, where we feed them and socialize them. We’ve had lots of visitors of all ages. My favorite was a 6 year old. She declared all the puppies “adorable”, insisted that she hold each one and said she never wanted to leave the pen.

At 4 weeks, the pups got their second dose of wormer. We also started them on “puppy gruel.” We use the blender to mix puppy chow, milk replacer and warm water. They love it. They are still drinking mom’s milk, but we are starting the weaning process. We’ll slowly start blending the food less and less and adding less water. By the time they are ready for their new homes they’ll be eating dry food and completely weaned.

We’ve also started exploring outside and playing with toys! This on is a hit, it crinkles when you play with it and the pups love it.

New owners have started choosing their pups. We do still have some pups available and as soon as everyone has chosen their pups, we’ll be posting photos of the remaining pups.

They’ve starting playing with each other and it’s a lot of fun to watch them.

All ready to move to the garage

Yesterday we had a puppy prison break. I came home from running errands to find several pups out of their box. Ruby was relaxing outside of the box and I’m guessing the pups were hungry and decided to take matters into their own hands. This little guy cracked me up. All alone on that big bed.

We’ve moved the puppies down to the garage and into a larger box. In a few days we’ll be setting up the kennel and exercise pen. We leave the top off the kennel for a while and the puppies get used to sleeping in it. They will naturally start to leave the kennel to relieve themselves.

The pups are currently 2 1/2 weeks old. Their eyes are open and they are starting to walk.

They will be available for pick up in time for Valentine’s Day . We will be shipping pups sometime after Feb. 19.

Ruby has been very interested in all the new noises and smells at our house. Henry knows what the sounds and smells mean, and is steering clear. He must remember how sharp those puppy teeth can be.

We’ve already gotten a couple of deposits, so contact us if you are interested in a pup. We always register our litters with the American Kennel Club (AKC), so if you prefer to register your dog, you will be able to.
